Khairy Jamaluddin, the Minister of Youth and Sports Ministy, has reacted to comments from the President of the Football Association Malaysia (FAM), Sultan Ahmad Shah, who earlier voiced his disappointment on comments directed towards the FAM and also the Pahang Football Association (PFA).

According to Sinar Harian, Khairy said: “What can I do, I was only giving my honest opinion representing the Youth and Sports Ministry.”

Khairy, however, did not want to comment more on the topic but firmly insists that his comments were in-line with his job as the Minister, who has the responsibility of taking care of sports development in the country.

Before this, Khairy slammed FAM and PFA by stating that both associations were not professional in their handling of the incidents that occured during the FA Cup semi-final clash between Pahang and Johor Darul Takzim.

According to Khairy, the FAM were not fair when they allocated 60,000 tickets to the PFA when in the opinion of Khairy, the PFA were the ones unable to control the safety of fans at the Darul Makmur stadium.

Khairy also added that his statement was made after receiving views from the public who questioned the decision made by the FAM.

Sultan Ahmad Shah, meanwhile, has voiced out his disappointment over Khairy’s recent comments.
