PETALING JAYA (June 3): The series of rallies organised by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim were carried out out of fear of three personalities, Senator Ezam Mohd Noor claimed.
In an exclusive interview with Utusan Malaysia, the former political aide to the de facto PKR leader alleged that Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan’s sodomy case, the intrusion in Lahad Datu, Sabah by the self-styled Sulu Sultan Jamalalul Kiram and S Nallakaruppan’s revelation of Anwar’s sex life has led the Permatang Pauh MP organising rallies to divert the people’s attention from the events related to these personalities.
Saiful, a former aide to Anwar, had alleged that the former sodomised him in 2008. Although Anwar has been acquitted of committing the offence, the prosecution has filed an appeal.
Anwar has also claimed that Umno has been trying to link him to Jamalalul.
Ezam said Anwar was trying hard to ensure these three issues would be forgotten by the people.
“He is known for resorting to desperate measures as he is aware that these issues can bury his political career,” he said in the daily's front-page story, adding that Anwar’s politics was never about solving the woes of the “rakyat” but to satisfy his “personal lust”.
In another exclusive by the Malay daily, an Indian NGO was quoted to have said that the DAP has not looked out for the community.
Perkemas president N Gobalakrishnan said DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng may have forgotten that the party was not founded by his father, Lim Kit Siang.
The DAP supremo, Gobalakrishnan pointed out, was a personal aide and part-time chauffer to former Singaporean president C V Devan who had formed DAP.
Devan, a former Bangsar MP had established DAP in 1965 after Singapore broke away from Malaysia.
“Yet the DAP does not seem to be trying hard enough in protecting the Indian community. Instead, the Indians in the party are only used for certain reasons,” he said.
Gobalakrishnan also said that the Indian community should be aware of the ill-treatment by the DAP, an attitude he deemed “regrettable”.
