Perkasa president Ibrahim Ali has described Kampar MP Ko Chung Seng as being rude and disrespectful of the Agong for questioning the introduction of Islamic Civilisation studies in private higher learning institutions.
Ibrahim ( left ) described Ko's urging the education ministry to withdraw the subject which is to be made compulsory, as impolite in view of the fact that Islam is the religion of the federation and the Agong is the symbol of the religion.
This shows that the DAP does not respect the importance of knowledge, the former Pasir Mas MP was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia .
"DAP is behaving in very extreme fashion and it is unfortunate that PAS and Umno are keeping quiet.
"I urge the education ministry to defend and let the Islamic civilisation subject be taught in private institutions of higher learning," he said.
Yesterday, Ko questioned why the subject should be made compulsory for all including local students in private universities come Sept 1.
The subject is to be taught in an effort to "standardise" requirements with public universities.
